This is my 67th holy season. I am not here to tell you or your family how to live. Proselytizing is talking and seeking allegiance to given human beliefs that are desirous by various political and or religious groups. The explanation goal of persuading potential converts to align with certain religious and/or political points of view is the defining mode of spreading various organizations' ideas beyond their groups.
For most older people, the use of the internet has proven to be the most heavily used and persuasive... There is a very significant use of internet for problems needing either political spin, or rarely, a
genuine answer to a given social dilemma. A culture of bending facts to fit a given point of view has replaced the model in journalism in which first identifiable truths contributing to the basic facts are reviewed by qualified editors leading to hypotheses which are developed and then analyzed. As many citizens have said, a well planned and balanced essay is helpful in clarifying what position to support in a given issue that is polarized. It is this polarized manner of thinking that has caused Americans to lose respect for the ideas of people with differing points of view.
My hope is that the world of ideas is now perceived as a basket of a variety of choices that are presented as a model from which consensus can be constructed. The strengths and weaknesses of various issues needs to be examined with a clear and open mind rather than a fixed and steadfast position from several groups that refuse to find common positions from which consensus can be honed to the best answers that serve the whole country, not just a few groups that have deep pockets. If there had been an internet when Hitler was in power, he might have won the battle of ideas. An excellent program this week on the various dictators who defecated in their nests highlighted the advent of the Kim dynasty in North Korea. It pointed out the differences between the two Koreas in the present day. There honestly was nothing truly comparable.
The use of democratic consensus building has been twisted in the USA by the money that wealthy corporations, and the filthy rich individuals and families donate to local, state, regional, and national policy cheerleaders and lobby groups. This perversion of free speech is an insult to the American people. This road we are traveling is perilous, and the objectionable destination is the death of true citizen based policy formation. Next could come the death of democracy itself.

The basis of proselytizing rests in the decision to convert people's points of view.
The realignment of a group seeking to alter the public's understanding of issues to a more compatible perception of defining and altering the general public's opinion of what caused a given problem is essential to public issues change. The use of mass media has been the most effective use of propaganda in the nation's history. This is both a blessing, and a curse. The effective mode of communication of religious and political ideas in the post broadcasting television and radio era is the internet. While both types of communication are still capable of bending public opinion, the advent of the internet has proven to be a superior tool for propagation of political and religious opinion influence. The internet as a tool offers the most adaptable form of persuasion with respect to both cogent and idiotic ideas.
